The last time Industrial Light and Magic worked on a Star Trek film was Star Trek : First Contact and personally I think the effects in that movie were amazing, they still look great, also Star Trek Generations still boasts amazing ILM visuals even though it was done in 1994.Great effects should have longevity and those films have it, but what the hell happened after that? they cheaped out is what. Star Trek : Insurrection's visuals were, hmmm good, so-so and Star Trek Nemesis had that amazing Enterprise ramming scene, but the rest were, well hmmm so-so again.
So, ILM is getting back in on the action in the new Star Trek film. Hallelujah!
I am sure they will do a great job and if the Teaser is anything to go by, then they have already done some awesome renderings of the Enterprise..
Cant wait til May 2009!
