Stargate Atlantis "Inquisition" Review
Normally I hate flashback episodes but sometimes they are good because it can allow the writers to concentrate more on the next big story and I suspect this is what has happened here."Inquisition" is a courtroom episode, nothing more. The Atlantis crew are put on trial by the newly formed Galactic Coalition for crimes ranging from waking the Wraith and, well waking the Replicators too resulting in the deaths of 2 million humans in the Pegasus Galaxy.
Sheppard initially takes the stand before he is replaced by Woolsey who has a wealth of legal expertise and he successfully makes the case for Atlantis's actions over the last 5 years.
The episode uses the convention of replaying important segments from previous episodes (just like TNG's "Shades of Grey") to tell the story of what impact they have indeed had on the Pegasus Galaxy. The footage from previous episodes didn't bother me too much since I am a sucker for Space Battles and there seemed to be a lot of it!
Overall, another "filler" but I have a feeling the next episode "prodigal" has something a little juicier for us to sink out teeth into.bring on Episode 14!

Stargate Atlantis "Outsiders" Review
Stargate Atlantis Season 5 Episode 12This is one of those episodes that you enjoy if you are a fan but if you just happened to tune in without having seeing the show before, it would not convince you of how great SGA can really be.
Synopsis.
Nice to see Beckett back in this one though and out Atlantis crew pay him a wee visit on a planet where he is treating a small group of survivors of the Hoffan plague.
These patients, who escaped a Wraith attack on their home world, Balar, have found sanctuary and friendship on this alien planet. But that same evening, a party of Wraith warriors appears before the village's councilors, demanding that the refugees be turned over to them, threatening total annihilation if they refuse.
The Balarians, aware that they are not only immune, but lethal to a Wraith, fear there is no chance the townspeople will continue to harbor them. And they may be right. Despite Sheppard's best efforts, it appears that the original residents intend to sacrifice the newcomers in order to save themselves.
-
Beckett is brilliant, then again I am a Scot so I am a bit bias but I love to see this Canadian actor playing the Scottish doctor. McKay is at his usual best but there is really not too much going on here except for an interesting moral dilemma regarding some conscience wrestling with the local population arguing whether or not to turn over the plague ridden survivors to the nasty Wraith in order to save themselves from annihilation. Sheppard organises a few twists to get them to safety and then everyone goes home happy.
Not a bad episode but it seemed like a bit of a "filler"

Stargate Atlantis "The Lost Tribe" Review
Stargate Atlantis Season 5 Episode : "The Lost Tribe"We leave from the cliffhanging previous episode "First Contact" where Atlantis was attacked and robbed of some essential technology as well as Rodney McKay and visitor Daniel Jackson by an new Alien threat.

We discover the new Aliens don't like the Wraith very much and are hell-bent on destroying them with the aid of an ancient device which they have just pinched from Atlantis. The Mechanised
looking Aliens re-activate an ancient weapon on a distant outpost that disrupts the Wraith hyperdrive and causes their warships to explode every time one enters hyperspace.Sounds great! but the side effect is that it also happens to make Stargates explode every time one is activated which will surely kill millions of humans all across the Pegasus galaxy.
The rest of the Atlantis crew relocate the control room after the Stargate explodes and they soon discover that the Wraith "Todd" has taken over the Daedalus, where only Keller and Ronon are free to take back the ship.

Todd, is not really being a nasty Wraith again, he simply wishes to stop the Aliens from destroying more of his ships, an interesting angle on this awesome "bad" guy. The Travellers come to the rescue and take Sheppard and Zelenka aboard one of the rusty yet powerful ships and they beat the Daedalus to the Alien outpost and engage the Asgard in battle.
Nasty old Todd unfortunately has abandoned the Daedalus but sets it heading on a collision course with the outpost requiring a few last minute
special effects to save the day.Overall I thought it was great. Good action and the usual quirky dialogue from McKay, especially in his interactions with Jackson.
I did think that some of the space battle effects at he end with the Travellers ship v the Asgard were a bit dodgy. It looks like the FX department were experimenting with some new angles but I didn't think it worked,
the rest however including the FX where the Daedalus enters the planetary atmosphere were pretty cool.On a soapy note, we discover that Keller is not interested in Ronon. She has her eye ion someone else.

Star Trek Theatrical Trailer : Coming Soon...
THE TRAILER IS HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!In August TrekMovie reported that the first full trailer for JJ Abrams Star Trek would probably come by the end of the year and more recently co-writer Roberto Orci stated it should be coming ‘before Christmas.’ Today TrekMovie confirmed with sources that the trailer will come in November, but that a specific film for it to be attached to has not yet been chosen. In addition, sources say that November will mark the beginning of Paramount’s marketing push for the film.
A full trailer
A source tells TrekMovie the theatrical trailer coming in November “is not a teaser, but a real trailer with footage from the film.” Edits are still being made, but it is expected to show the Enterprise exterior and the Enterprise bridge as well as dialog from movie. Which weekend in November the trailer will be released is still up in the air. Paramount/Dreamworks only have two films coming out in November: the animated Madagascar 2 on November 7th and on November 21st
they release the musically-themed drama The Soloist starring Robert Downey Jr. and Jamie Foxx. Of those only Madagascar 2 seems possible, however sources indicate that Paramount is also looking at attaching the trailer to other non-Paramount films in hopes of getting the widest possible audience possible.
Other films opening in November include the new Bond movie, Quantum of Solace on November 14th, the Disney animated movie Bolt and the vampire film Twilight on the 21st, and the Nicole Kidman period film Australia and the action movie Transporter 3 on the 28th.

USS Enterprise J : Wallpaper
- Registry: USS Enterprise (NCC-1701-J)
- Class: Unknown
- Service: circa 26th century
- Captain: Unknown
The ship, along with a fleet of other Federation vessels, fights and defeats the Sphere Builders at the Battle of Procyon Five (depicted in the episode "Azati Prime"). Crewman Daniels brings Captain Jonathan Archer forward from the 22nd century so that Archer can witness the battle. Archer subsequently works with the Xindi in the 22nd century to defeat the Sphere Builders earlier in history.
The Enterprise-J is featured in the 2005 Ships of the Line calendar that features images of the various starships seen from Star Trek throughout the years, as well as in the Ships of the Line book released in 2006.
The Enterprise-J is also seen in the "Ships of the Line" poster released in the Star Trek Magazine issue #1. Enterprise’s "G", "H", and "I" have not yet been mentioned in licensed Star Trek fiction.
A future Enterprise however is mentioned in the novel Star Trek: Federation, with a female captain.

The Greatest Form of Art
I was thinking about great Sci Fi scenes and the one that popped into my head was the finale to the 5th season of Deep Space Nine, where the camera zooms in on Sisko on the Defiant and as the music builds and builds we see the combined federation / Klingon fleet fill the screen, amazing!A Painting is art, music is art, writing is art. So many other types of art qualify, but the moving image, the movie or even TV is where most forms of art come together.
Every so often a movie or TV show will deliver a scene where the music, the dialogue, the acting and the visuals will all come together in a perfect way. I don't think any other art form can boast this combination of art in one place.
This is why I don't bother going to art galleries. :-P
Scotty is a Glaswegian - Star Trek XI
Simon Pegg on Scotty in Star Trek XI"Half my family is Scottish and my wife's Scottish," says Simon Pegg, who plays Scotty in J.J. Abrams' how-they-met Star Trek prequel movie.
"I had some leeway, and I made Scotty's accent Northwestern Scottish -- just above Glasgow, but pretty Glaswegian."
Chris Doohan, son of the late original Scotty James Doohan, "played my assistant on the ship. So I chatted with him a bit about his dad. I wanted to do something he would approve of, to do something in his honour, but not to impersonate him in any way."
