The ship's maximum warp is 9.975, with warp nacelles that pivot upwards while in flight. Voyager featured improved computer systems using both traditional isolinear circuitry and new bio-neural circuitry to improve performance.
Voyager also had the capability of landing on the surface of a planet with landing struts.

Star Trek Trailer and TV Spot
Sulu battling on the drill and the Skydiving.... ? maybe I am just so deep into my Star Trek geekgasm that I am starting to hallucinate.
Star Trek : Trailer Analysis
Romulan Weapon: It appears that the bad guy "Nero" a buff looking tattooed Romulan has got some kind of grudge against the Planet Vulcan and we can see in the trailer some kind of elaborate and huge Romulan ship which seems to "drill" into the planet with, I assume some intention of blowing it up. (Obvious?)
USS Kelvin: It appears that a Federation Starship, the USS Kelvin at some point engages the giant vessel and comes under attack from some kind of Romulan Torpedoes but survives long enough to "ram" the offending vessel. The trailer also seems to show us some kind of Starfleet shuttles, or fighters also engaged in combat with the ship.
Transporter Beam: The shot where we see Spock beaming down (cool new effect) to the Planet also has falling rocks in the background and seems as though it will be near the end of the film as he attempts to rescue his human mother (Wynona Ryder) from the Romulan drill weapon.
Command: What I dont get is, Kirk at some point seems to take command or the Enterprise from Captain Pike, but I assume even at this point, Kirk has only just graduated from Starfleet, or maybe not even yet?Ice Planet: At some point, Kirk ends up on some frozen planet with a cool CGI alien monster, exiled?
Warp Effect: The New "Warp Effect" from the Enterprise looks really cool and this is something that has been updated regularly throughout the Star Trek Movies.Emotions: At some point it appears that Spock lets his emotions get the better of him, something we all know is brimming just beneath the surface in all Vulcans.
Another Ship: There is another ship in the trailer with some kind of spinning rear and firing multiple shots from the front, maybe this is a Vulcan vessel of some kind.
Finale: There is another shot of the Enterprise facing the camera while a large Blue Explosion goes off behind it, I presume this is where we see our heroes save the day and the Enterprise escapes triumphantly.Check out the Star Trek Movie Site and see the Trailer >>>

Stargate Atlantis Season 5 Episode 15 "Remnants" Review
At first this episode seemed like just another normalish (is that a word?) episode of Atlantis where we have some bad guys who try to blow up, destroy or otherwise hurt our heroes on Atlantis, but wait...Something is not right with this episode, Our favourite characters are acting funny, odd and out of place, Woolsey is facing a personal and professional dilemma, Colonel Sheppard is stuck on the mainland with an old adversary who has somehow risen from the dead and hellbent on destroying Atlantis and McKay is getting some uncharacteristically nice complements from Zelenka while working on a project regading a strange underwater probe.
I am normally very good at predicting twists in Science Fiction but I have to admit, the final twist of this episode got me really good.
This whole episode had that classic feeling that we often have when watching a Star Trek episode, you know, the one where you start thinking that everything you are watching is some kind of holographic illusion... kind of like that.
I normally write spoilers in my reviews but this time all I am going to say is, WATCH THIS EPISODE! It may just revitalise your love for not just Stargate Atlantis, but Sci Fi in general. It is a very good example of great science fiction writing.
SCIFISTUFF.

Reaction to the Star Trek Theatrical Trailer.
There is no doubt that Star Trek desperatly needed a reboot, or a reinvention of its status in the world of sci fi and pop culture in general.Star Trek has always had a stigma of being geeky and misunderstood by many people. Hopefully, if this trailer is anything to go by, then we are finally looking at a Star Trek Film which has style, heaps of action and ass-kicking sci fi entertainment in abundance and not just appealing to die hard fans such as me, but for the wider audience in general.
As far as the precious Star Trek canon goes, I really dont care if they screw around with trek history a bit. I hope that trek fans will resist the urge to nitpick the movie for whatever non-consistent nuggets of information they can find. Sci Fi Fans are guilty (myself included) of always exposing minor issues. Lets just keep them to ourselves eh, after all those are the type of things that give us Trek fans a bad name.
Lets be eternally grateful that Star Trek has been given another chance, a top director, an awesome cast, a huge budget and a shitload of Industrial Light and Magic visual effects on top.
If you are a trek fan and feel not too happy about what the producers, writers and director of thie film may have done with it, consider this, if the movie fails, then you might as well kiss Star Trek goodbye, because I doubt anyone will ever make another one.

JJ Abrams has "Nailed it!"
First reaction.According to the report on the Total Film website, it appears as though Star Trek is not only back, but it is back better than ever after having seen the first footage from the film.
Finally I feel eternally optimistic that the Universe that I know and love so well has returned!

Finally! The New USS Enterprise !!

New USS Enterprise from JJ Abrams "Star Trek"
Abrams wanted to take the original TV-series Enterprise and the movie-franchise Enterprise and fuse them together into a new yet familiar Enterprise.
His ambition was a ship that felt very realistic, that could stand up to today's F/X standards -- and beyond. "If you're going to do Star Trek, there are many things you cannot change. The Enterprise is a visual touchstone for so many people. So if you're going to do the Enterprise, it better look like the Enterprise, because otherwise, what are you doing?" more from EW.com >>

you do in life, it will never be as awesome
as this picture"
INGENUITY"Yes, it is perfectly reasonable that Kirk has the know how
to make the gunpowder and put together the bazooka
to defeat the Gorn. Thats why he's the Goddam Captain!"

Stargate Atlantis Season 5 Episode 14 "Prodigal" Review
As I suspected, the last couple of episodes were a bit of a "filler" for something else, and this is it, "The Prodigal" marks the return of everyones favourite Wraith / Human hybrid "Michael".In this episode we see some male bonding going on between McKay and Sheppard via a radio controlled car chase in one of Atlantis's outer piers when suddenly all the power to the station is cut. In an effort to reach the gate room the crew discover that it is sealed off with a very cleaver shield / stun bubble created by Michael and his hybrids by interfacing Wraith technology into a stolen puddle jumper.
In effect the rest of the episode is really about Shepperd and the team trying to gain access to the gateroom and killing Michael but there are some interesting characters moments where we discover that Michael (Connor Trineer) is really very much hellbent on revenge upon the Atlantis crew for destroying much of his work throughout the Pegasus Galaxy and he fully intends to leave the city with Teyla's baby and then destroy the city.
In classic McKay fashion, some technical wizardry allows the team to retake the Gate room, destroy the Puddle Jumper and Kill Michael once and for all via an absolutely spectacularly choreographed fight outdoors and very high up Atlantis's main tower.
All in all about 8 / 10 for me.

New Star Trek Movie Theatrical Trailer Full Description - Spoilers
The full trailer for J.J. Abrams' Star Trek movie was playing on loop at the Paramount Theater on the lot this past week. Aint It Cool News posted detailed descriptions of the trailer. Here are few excerpts of their article (beware of spoilers)
The trailer starts by showing a mid-60's Corvette convertible tearing across the country side. After a few seconds we see a long shot that shows a policeman in hot pursuit. Another long shot shows the Vette screaming at full speed toward a steep cliff. A slo-mo shot shows the driver leaping from the car at the last second and tumbling ass over teakettle toward the edge of the cliff itself. The driver is a young boy who looks about 13 or 14. He manages to grab a hold at the last second and hang on as a birds eye shot show the antique Vette fall away into an abyss.
We see the boy get up and dust himself off and the camera cuts away to show a troopers boot come down close-up. The black leather boot is obviously the policeman's who was chasing the car but it looks suspiciously "different." Just different enough to let the audience know this isn't a normal policeman. The shot then cuts to where we can see the policeman standing in front of the boy with his "bike" hovering in mid air a few feet beside him. He shouts at the boy, "Who are you?" or "What's your name?" and the boy shouts back defiantly, "James Tiberius Kirk!"
We're then treated to another long shot showing an older boy riding a hover bike similar to the one the policeman was shown riding a moment or two before thru the country side .
We hear a voice over of an older man, presumable Kirk's father saying, "You never found yourself here, you never really fit in." The voice continues as the bike rider pulls up and stops and looks off into the distance, "What you choose to do with you're life is up to you." We see the boy starring at a huge futuristic structure (Star Fleet headquarters?) as the voice over continues, "Maybe you were meant for something different, something....bigger."
It then cuts to scene of an obvious Vulcan woman holding a baby. Again we hear a voice over of the woman saying, "You will always be a part of two worlds." as we cut to a toddler Spock walking in a Vulcan robe. The boy has the Beatles hair cut and pointed ears we associate with Vulcan's throughout Star Trek history. We then see a bunch a quick shots of the crew walking around the bridge of some starship and we see a 20-something Spock angrily pointing at a 20-something Kirk and saying, "I will not be lectured by you!" and an angry Kirk getting in Spocks face saying, "Why don't you do something about it!?!" We then see an enraged Spock trying to stab Kirk with something pointed I couldn't quite make out. It was a quick shot and Kirk is shown using both hands to fend off Spock and hold the object away from his face.
Several quick cuts are shown of space ships firing at one another and people being thrown about the bridge of whatever ship they're suppose to be in. We see crew members running down bright white corridors as another voice over with a Scottish accent says, "I'm having fun!" We then see a close-up of what had to be a young(er) Dr. McCoy with about a weeks worth of black stubble on his face and his arms crossed in that oh so familiar Bones manner saying angrily, "Space isn't suppose to be fun, it's aliens and phasers and death!" We also see a woman in silhouette (Uhura?) pulling off her top and scenes of the crew running to man their battle stations on a bridge.
We then see a bunch of battle shots of space ships being hit by phaser fire and pieces being blown off of them while engine nacels explode before it all ends with the familar Star Fleet logo against a black background and we hear the familar Star Trek opening cords played over it and the release date appears underneath.
